Our hoses meet the sea: Fish suction hoses
Building a long-lasting partnership is not easy, but MTG and PROFLEX have succeeded. This is not just a simple collaboration, but a strong partnership that has lasted for more than 25 years.
Thanks to a relationship based on complete trust and shared experience, revolutionary hoses have been developed in a wide range of diameters, offering extremely high performance and quality for applications in the aquaculture sector. The products are customized to meet the needs and expectations of the end user.
Why does the market need a high-performance, customized hose?
Operators in this sector require special hoses designed to suction and transport live fish from the sea to the vessel. The hose must withstand the weight of its own structure when filled with water and fish, while one end is connected to the vessel and the other is immersed in salmon farms. Therefore, the structure must withstand considerable tensile stress and weight while operating under maximum suction conditions.
Each vessel on which these large-diameter hoses are installed may have specific requirements in terms of length, bending radius, or connections with different flanges.
What are the key features of these hoses?
The inner surface of the hose must be completely smooth, with no reduction in diameter in the fitting area, as any irregularity could injure the fish during passage. Secondly, any gaps or steps between the fitting and the rubber could facilitate the proliferation of bacteria and parasites, which, if carried from one farm to another, could compromise the health of entire fish farms.
The special technology used for fitting application is designed to integrate the fitting into the hose structure, creating a perfectly smooth, extremely flexible hose that is resistant to suction. As a result, the fish never come into contact with metal parts.
Our hoses are characterized by:
- Excellent resistance to suction and tensile stress
- No variation in internal diameter along the entire length of the finished product
The fitting assembly is manufactured according to a dedicated technical specification developed specifically for this hose model.
Each hose is supplied with an applied identification label showing the production date, batch number, item code, and serial number, ensuring full product traceability throughout its entire lifecycle.
Our hoses have been certified by DNV GL – Business Assurance in compliance with the “Regulations on requirements for technical standards for land-based aquaculture facilities for fish” and the requirements of NS 9416.
